Volkswagen rises to Dakar challenge

Car manufacturer Volkswagen is going to be likely to need car spares as it is presenting five teams at the 31st Dakar Rally.

This year the brand celebrated being responsible for the first diesel-powered motor to win the Dakar with its Race Touareg TDI, which boasts a 2.5-litre engine.

Volkswagen’s model was said to celebrate "ten out of a possible 13 stage wins on the way to clinching a famous one-two victory".

The 9,000 kilometres course – which can also reach altitudes over 4,700 metres above sea-level – sees contenders naviagate across the Andes, starting off in Buenos Aires.

Other locations on the route will see participants travel through the Atacama desert in the north of Chile before making their return home.

Next year’s event will kick things off in Argentina on January 1st.

Volkswagen developed its first motor concept back in 1934.

The company states it is proud to be the producer of what it terms as the legendary Beetle and modern-day masterpiece the Golf.

VW ‘is a safe choice’

Volkswagen’s safety-focused car parts set a benchmark for the automotive industry, it has been claimed.

The manufacturer stated it offers customers some of the highest levels of protection available.

It pointed out six of its current models have been awarded the maximum five-star safety rating by Euro Ncap – the Touareg, Passat, Touran, Tiguan, Golf and Polo.

The group added the crash tests conducted by this industry body include conditions more stringent than those set out in EU law.

It suggested its success in this area is down to systems like the Electronic Stabilisation Programme that features in all its autos, not just those in the luxury class.

Spokesman Dr Ulrich Hackenberg highlighted the fact the new Polo, Golf and Tiguan recently achieved their maximum ratings after the Euro Ncap requirements were made even tougher.

He stated: "We are very proud of this because safety has a long tradition at Volkswagen and will also be a guide for the development of new models in the future."

Meanwhile, the manufacturer recently announced the latest Polo is available from £99 a month to people purchasing the car before the end of the year.

VW Golf offers “faultless stability”

A Volkswagen model has been praised for offering "faultless stability" when it comes to pulling a heavy load.

The new sixth-generation Golf has taken the overall title at the 2010 Caravan Club Towcar of the Year honours.

Judges revealed they had been particularly impressed with the auto’s "agile handling", which allows it to tackle the most demanding routes while pulling a mobile home.

They stated the SE 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS edition of the vehicle is a worthy winner.

Panel member Barry Williams commented: "After 26 million sales and over 34 years, the company has produced a car that is the quietest and safest yet."

Volkswagen said it was delighted to drive away with the accolade, as a significant number of motorists in the UK own and tow caravans on a regular basis.

The group added it intended to make the most of the "fantastic commercial opportunity" presented by the honour.

Meanwhile, the Skoda Superb was triumphant in the under-1,800 kg class.

Quality Volkswagen car parts may have contributed to success

The quality of Volkswagen car parts may have contributed to the manufacturer’s success at a recent awards ceremony.

At this year’s Auto Express honours, the company claimed two accolades for its Golf range.

The first went to the GTI edition of the model, which was named Best Hot Hatch.

Meanwhile, the second saw the original Golf drive away with the title of Best Compact Family Car.

Commenting on the first of these models, Auto Express said it was ideal for trips to the countryside, long journeys on the motorway and commuting in busy urban areas.

It stated: "All of this combines to make the latest Golf GTI one of the most desirable real world cars on the planet – and a worthy winner of our hot hatch prize."

Last month, the company announced it was increasing its Touran range with the addition of the Match version of the MPV – a move which could create more potential Volkswagen car parts buyers.

Car spares buyers may agree VW Touran Match is a bargain

People who find buying cheap car spares online helps them save cash may agree that a new model from Volkswagen is also a cost-effective choice.

The Touran Match costs £500 more than the SE edition of the MPV, but comes with an extra £1,600 worth of standard equipment.

As a result – in addition to features like cruise control, semi-automatic air conditioning and curtain airbags – the auto also includes a satnav system, smoked lens covers for the lights, a multifunction steering wheel and 16-inch alloys.

Buyers can choose between diesel and petrol versions of the car, which is available to order immediately.

However, people who are not in the market for a new vehicle at the moment may find there are ways they can keep their current auto – which they bought from the manufacturer – running smoothly.

By replacing worn parts with Volkswagen car spares purchased online, drivers may be able to keep their motor on the road for many years to come.
