Back to ‘old school’ for Renault

One car manufacturer is reverting back to its old ways and bringing back stripes.

Car manufacturer Renault has taken the decision to revive the old Gordini markings.

Renaults are once again set to sport a Gordini badge in just a few months’ time.

It has been said that the name forms part of the company’s heritage and is a symbol for success.

Gordini branding was derived from Amedee Gordini, the person responsible for developing in the region of 200,000 vehicles in a 20-year timescale for the make.

He was responsible for his own racing car improvements before he became involved with the manufacturer, with the Renault 8 Gordini being one of his most winning developments.

According to the brand its Megane Renaultsport, Twingo Renaultsport and Clio Renaultsport currently stand as its "best-performing vehicles in their sectors".

The manufacturer claims that since the win by Marcel and Louis Renault in 1899 at the Paris-Trouville race, it has developed a history closely related to motorsports.

Electric car production site unveiled

Renault has revealed the location of where its new electric cars will be made.

Northern France is the destination for the manufacture of its zero-emission Kangoo.

Other motors in the Kangoo range are currently produced in the French town of Maubeuge, by a specialist light commercial vehicle organisation.

The business has expressed that it is also capable of adapting its methods of producing Renault car parts to successfully turn out the brand’s latest eco-offering.

Also announced recently were other electric cars to form Renault’s range – based on the Twizy Z E concept and another on the Zoe Z E concept, which should both have come into production by 2012.

Manufacture of the brand’s electric Kangoo is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2011.

Renault launched an eco vehicle marking two years ago to identify the most economical cars in its range.

The eco2 signature aims to outline the company’s willingness to move forward in terms of ecological advancement.

Renault race produces top speed young driver

A Renault vehicle was the car to produce some top results recently in an annual company contest.

The motor was driven by son of Top Gear’s Stig, Tom Blomqvist, in this year’s Michelin Formula Renault UK Winter Cup.

On November 7th the driver became the youngest person to take home the title at the event, at just 15-years-old.

The Swede got two wins and the two fastest final round laps however it was Harry Tincknell who was the Winter Cup’s overall winner.

CRS’s boy came second and third, in addition to already winning at Snetterton the previous weekend.

The Michelin Formula Renault UK Winter Cup was the final occasion that Renault’s tatuus-built chassis would be used as 2010 will see the introduction of a new vehicle from the brand.

Renault attributes its Michelin race to launching Lewis Hamilton’s career among other motoring stars.

In 2008, two events hosted by the World Series by Renault attracted a total crowd of around 110,000 people.

Renault apprentices get their reward

Renault has announced the successful candidates for its Apprentice of the Year competition.

Winners represented graduates of the manufacturer’s Renault Trucks Advanced Apprenticeship Options Programme, which is run in collaboration with the RAC as its training partner.

Daniel Willis, of RH Commercial Vehicles at Nottingham, was lucky enough to take home this year’s gong for the Technical Apprenticeship category – Year 1.

Laurent Farman, managing director of Renault Trucks UK, said: "The apprentice awards ceremony is very much about recognition for the achievement of these outstanding young men."

He added that the training is vital to the brand which is the reason for Renault Trucks’ commitment to the programme.

Other champions included Matthew Melia of Renault Trucks Midlands, who won the Customer Service apprentice of the year.

As a brand, Renault claims to currently be represented in 118 countries.

Cup chassis on Megane Renaultsport ‘offers an exhilarating ride’

One of the car part options on the new Megane Renaultsport 250 offers "exhilarating track-focused performance", it has been claimed.

According to the manufacturer, buyers who choose the version of the model with the Cup chassis will find the auto boasts an even more thrilling ride than the standard edition.

It explained this variation of the car part features a limited slip differential.

Buyers were also advised is it easy to tell when the auto is equipped with the Cup chassis as it is fitted with grooved brake discs and red callipers.

The vehicle is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that provides maximum power of 250 bhp.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer also said the auto boasts an athletic appearance.

It stated: "Racy exterior and interior styling of New Megane Renaultsport 250 takes inspiration from the world of motor sport."

Prices for the car start at £21,995 and it is scheduled to arrive in UK showrooms in January 2010.

Renault Megane Sport Tourer ‘a green choice’

Vehicle owners who try and keep their autos running as efficiently as possible by replacing worn car parts may be impressed with a new model from Renault.

According to the manufacturer, the Megane Sport Tourer is a green choice as it features a low-emission engine.

It explained the versions of the vehicle featuring 1.5 dCi engines release 120 g/km or less of CO2.

Prices for the model range from £15,485 to £22,785 and a range of customisation options are available for those who like to personalise their motors.

These choices include parking proximity sensors, electric panoramic sunroof and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Drivers will be able to order the model from June 29th and it is due to arrive in showrooms across the UK on August 15th.
