Porsche car parts to be painted at ‘eco-friendly facility’

Porsche car parts will be painted at one of the most environmentally-friendly automotive facilities in the world, it has been claimed.

The manufacturer has revealed it is expanding its production operations at its main plant in Stuttgart, Germany.

It stated, as well as being kind to the planet, the facility will feature innovative technology never previously used in the car industry.

Porsche explained a cutting-edge electrostatic precipitator for paint dust will make it possible to reduce the emission of particles and solvents to a minimum.

The factory is due to be completed in 2011 and will produce up to 170 Boxster and 911 models every day.

Spokesman for the manufacturer Wolfgang Leimgruber stated: "Porsche is ensuring that it will deliver unsurpassed quality … while also conserving resources in an exceptionally ecological and economical manner."

Last month, the marque announced it is to build a limited edition 911 Sport Classic model with a production run of 250.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS engine ‘offers more power’

The engine in Porsche’s new 911 can rev faster and offers even more power than those in previous editions of the car, it has been claimed.

According to the manufacturer, the power unit of the GT3 RS vehicle has helped to create the most sporting road version of the model ever.

The engine in question is based on the flat six-cylinder boxer variation that is used in the GT3 911.

However, although the new unit displaces 3.8 rather than 3.6 litres like its predecessor, it is also tuned so that it offers even more power to the person behind the wheel.

Buyers can expect an additional 15 hp, compared to the GT3 variation of the motor.

The RS edition of the Porsche 911 is scheduled to arrive in showrooms across the UK and Ireland in February next year.

Prices for the car start at £100,760.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer is to display the next generation 911 Turbo at the Frankfurt International Motor Show next month.

Porsche car part scoops award

A Porsche car part has received an award in a global competition.

The 911 Carrera S 3.8-litre unit has been named Best New Engine 2009.

According to the triumphant manufacturer, it is working hard to improve the efficiency, eco credentials and driving character of all of its sports cars.

However, it claimed this is particularly true when it comes to the 911.

The unit – which took the honours at the International Engine of the Year Awards – is capable of pushing the car to 186 mph.

In addition to this, when used in conjunction with the company’s double clutch transmission, it allows CO2 emissions to be reduced by about 15 per cent and fuel consumption to be cut by 13 per cent.

Meanwhile, people who own a model from the luxury marque may already appreciate how economical they can be.

In order to keep such a vehicle running at its most efficient, owners may find it helps to replace worn parts with Porsche car spares bought online.

Modified Porsche warranty launched

Porsche owners who have modified their motors with car parts bought online may welcome the fact a new comprehensive warranty for models with such upgrades has been launched.

The product covers any vehicle by the luxury marque that is more than two years old and can be obtained from Tech9 – the UK agent for Techart.

People who secure the warranty will find it offers unlimited mileage coverage and they can make as many claims as they want – up to the overall retail value of their auto.

In addition to this, it provides 60 days European breakdown insurance, as well as a contribution to travel and hotel expenses.

Phil Hindley, managing director of Tech9, commented: "Owners of modified cars are increasingly having difficulty obtaining extended warranties, leaving them exposed to the cost and inconvenience of mechanical breakdown."

He explained the new product addresses this problem.

Meanwhile, owners who ensure they replace worn Porsche parts may find they reduce their chances of experiencing a breakdown.
