The Scottish Car of the Year awards saw the Jaguar XJ named 2010’s Best Luxury Car and the new Kia Sportage the Car of the Year.
The Jaguar XJ was tested by motoring experts from the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) beating the BMW 5 Series GT and the new Audi A8 to win.
Car parts attributed to the luxurious nature of the XJ model include a panoramic roof with electrically operated blinds, Jaguar 400W sound system with a hard disk drive and a media hub.
The Jaguar XJ is available through Jaguar dealerships throughout the UK priced from £53,900.
“Today’s breed of luxury cars have to be as impressive to drive as they are to be driven in and no car showcases this better than our 2010 winner,” said John Murdock, the ASMX president.
Meanwhile the Kia Sportage landed its first major victory since it went on sale recently, winning over the Scottish journalists with what was praised as a blend of style, quality, value and its unrivalled fully-transferable seven year warranty.
“With our rugged terrain and harsh winters Scotland’s demand for SUVs has always been strong and that is likely to remain the case with vehicles as talented as the new Sportage,” continued John Murdock.
The new Sportage is a two-wheel drive car boasting a 1.6 gasoline direct injection engine or a 1.7 turbo diesel version.
Other features include the ability for car buyers to choose between a 6 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed automatic, and can be purchased for a reasonable £16,645.
