Fiat car part ‘could help drivers protect the planet and their pocket’

An award-winning Fiat car part may be able to help drivers reduce their impact on the environment and save money, if recent comments are anything to go by.

The magazine Auto Express gave the company a special accolade for its eco:Drive system at its recent honours and said the technology offers various benefits.

It stated: "This innovative product is designed to improve economy and reduce CO2 output, but the system also helps to cut fuel bills."

With many people trying to tighten their belts at the moment, this is something everyone can appreciate, the publication added.

The technology works by inserting a USB memory stick into the dashboard, so that it can record details of the driving style of the person behind the wheel.

Users can look at this information on a computer and the system offers advice on how to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions.

Meanwhile, replacing car parts that become worn is another way motorists may be able to boost their vehicle’s efficiency.

Demand for Fiat car parts may be unlikely to fall

The number of motorists looking for Fiat car parts for Panda models may remain steady, if the manufacturer’s latest achievement is anything to go by.

It has been revealed the 1,500,000th example of the most popular segment A auto in Europe rolled off the production line at the group’s plant in Poland this month.

The company pointed out production of the vehicle has moved steadily upwards over the years, with no sign of a drop in demand.

During 2009, it is expected some 285,000 examples of the car will be built at the Polish facility – the largest number ever.

The historic 1,500,000th Panda was a 1.3 MultiJet left hand drive in magnetic blue, produced for a customer in Italy.

In 2004, the model was named European auto of the year and it has been the best-selling segment A vehicle across the continent since 2003.

Motorists keen to keep a much-loved Panda on the road for as long as possible may find replacing worn parts with Fiat car spares bought online can help.

The manufacturer has opened a showroom in Hayes, Middlesex, which is dedicated to used vehicles.

He added: "We are offering cars that have effectively come direct from the manufacturer, so they are beautifully maintained."

Customers who visit the outlet in person were also advised there are specialist sales staff available to answer any queries.

Meanwhile, individuals who buy a motor from the centre may find they can keep it running smoothly for many years to come by replacing parts that get worn out with cheap Fiat car spares purchased online.

Award-winning Fiat car parts to grace new Qubo

An award-winning Fiat car part that is designed to help drivers save fuel is to be included in the new Qubo.

The mini multi-purpose vehicle will incorporate the eco:Drive system into its range of features, after the system won a Grand Prix accolade at the recent Cannes Lions Awards.

It works via a USB stick that downloads on to a computer and analyses information about the owner’s driving style. It then offers suggestions on how to improve efficiency to save fuel and cut carbon emissions.

"We want our cars to be fun, but they must also be practical and environmentally-friendly," said Andrew Humberstone, Fiat group Automobiles UK managing director.

"Offering eco:Drive on Qubo will help to spread the benefits of this technology."

Car parts in the new Qubo also include Dynamic and Active trim levels, a 1.3-litre MultiJet turbodiesel engine, or a "perky" 1.4-litre petrol version.

Last week, singer-songwriter James Morrison played a gig in London as part of the promotional campaign for the vehicle.

Fiat scoops award for green gadget

People who replace worn car parts to ensure their auto is as green as possible may welcome the news Fiat’s environmentally-friendly efforts have been recognised.

The manufacturer’s eco:Drive technology has scooped an accolade at the Cannes Lions Awards, which honour creativity in marketing.

Entrants can receive gold, silver or bronze prizes, while outstanding competitors are handed a Grand Prix medal.

Fiat’s eco:Drive analyses a motorist’s driving style and offers tips on how users can improve fuel economy and their green credentials.

The product was one of 2,205 entries up for a Cannes Cyber Lions Award.

Of these, three received Grand Prix recognition and the manufacturer’s gadget was among them.

The triumphant company’s marketing director, Elena Bernardelli, said she was "delighted that this prestigious advertising festival should recognise eco:Drive as a new product that has established a relationship with customers, rather than simply a form of advertising".

Special Fiat 500 C goes under the hammer

A special edition of the new Fiat 500 C has been auctioned off for charity.

Designed by Peter Blake, the black convertible raised £55,000 for the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

In total, the sale – which was staged at Hampton Court Palace in London – generated some £1.5 million for good causes.

A range of famous faces turned out to support the event, including author JK Rowling, actor Vanessa Redgrave, the mayor Boris Johnson and former president of Russia Mikhail Gorbachev.

Fans of Fiat models may be pleased to hear the convertible version of the 500 is due to arrive in UK showrooms next month, with prices starting from £11,300.

However, motorists who cannot afford to update their current vehicle from the Italian marque may find there are steps they can take to keep it on the road for a few more years.

Regular servicing and replacing worn Fiat parts could help to ensure the car continues to run at its best for the foreseeable future.

Fiat has taken an environmental accolade at the What Car? Green Awards.

The manufacturer’s 500 Start&Stop city model has driven away with an honour for being one of most economical vehicles on the UK market.

Managing director Andrew Humberstone said: "In these tough economic times, motorists are looking for environmentally-friendly cars that can provide fantastically low running costs."

The firm pointed out the model benefits from the expertise of car parts specialist Bosch, as well as Fiat Powertrain Techologies.

In terms of its green credentials, the vehicle offers CO2 emissions of 113 g/km.

Commenting on the auto, What Car? magazine stated: "Not many cars as chic as the 500 are so easy on the environment."

The Start&Stop feature means the engine cuts out automatically when the vehicle comes to a halt.
