According to latest figures winter tyres are in short supply with stockists not expecting deliveries until January.

Christmas journeys will be made even more hazardous for those hoping to swap their car tyres to winter ones to enable their car to handle better in freezing conditions.

What Car? revealed more than 87 percent of stockists do not expect to have any more winter car tyres until the New Year.

Some outlets claimed the bad weather was slowing their deliveries and were hoping to have tyres by the end of the week.

“If climate change is going to bring us much colder winters, we believe the Government should look at making a tyre change compulsory in winter,” said Steve Fowler, What Car? Editor-in-Chief.

“It would help to ensure that the country keeps moving safely and that motorists have more grip and confidence behind the wheel.”

Research by the AA also showed the regions in the UK where motorists were more or less likely to fit winter tyres.

Twelve percent of drivers in Scotland, nine percent in the North East, nine percent in Wales, and nine percent in Yorkshire and Humberside were likely to have bought winter or all season tyres this year.

Motorists in Northern Ireland were found to be the least likely to put a shovel in their car in preparation of getting stuck in snow, 26 percent, while 49 percent in Scotland were likely to have done this.

Those the least prepared were Londoners with 53 percent admitting to have done nothing while those in Scotland were the least likely to have done nothing at 35 percent.

Buy Car Tyres Online

If you were considering buying winter tyres, or need to change existing ones due to wear and tear you should consider looking online.

Fiat unveils its new TwinAir concept due to transform petrol powered engines with advanced technology to aid low fuel consumption.

Fiat unveils its new TwinAir concept due to transform petrol powered engines with advanced technology to aid low fuel consumption.

The 875 cc two-cylinder engine claims to be the cleanest quantity production petrol engine in the world and yet also providing satisfying rev power.

The new car part in its 85bhp version of the engine is set to debut in the UK this month with the Fiat 500, combining essential requirements of the 21st Century car owner by downsizing for city driving, reducing fuel consumption without sacrificing power for driver enjoyment.

More than a fifth of future Fiat 500 sales are forecast to be TwinAir versions Fiat predicts, as it weighs just 85 kg with 95g/km of CO2.

It also boasts 145 Nm of torque at a low 1900rpm and compared with Fiat’s best-selling 1.2 litre petrol engine in the Fiat 500 the TwinAir delivers 23 percent more power combined with a 15 percent reduction in CO2 emissions.

The results of this new technology have been down to FPT’s MultiAir technology which played a major part in reducing the consumption and emissions Fiat claim.

The MultiAir combined with a turbocharger helps to optimise performance at low revs while reductions in weight and size help boost performance and responsiveness.

The timing change has also been adapted influencing the reduced engine running costs as it is maintenance-free while a balancing countershaft reduces vibrations to give the smoothness and refinement of a four-cylinder car.

Fiat Car Parts

Fiat car parts can be purchased via 247 Spares who are the largest online stockist of spare motor parts.

With a variety of different engine parts available, including new environmentally friendly additions there is likely to be something suitable to replace a damaged or worn down part for you.

Furthermore, the Fiat car part can be ordered online or via the phone and then delivered to your home.

The 100 percent electric, zero-emission Nissan LEAF has commenced production aiming to be on sale in December.

The 100 percent electric, zero-emission Nissan LEAF has commenced production aiming to be on sale in December.

With initial sales in Japan and the United States – Europe will begin sales from early 2011 of the new Nissan manufactured in Zama, Japan as a joint-venture between Nissan Motor Co., Ltd and NEC Corporation.

The environmentally friendly car is constructed with new age automotive car parts including four battery cells and is the first of its kind produced for the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

The Alliance has so far signed 80 partnership deals for zero-emission mobility with various organisations and governments worldwide to help boost the new environmentally clean form of driving.

“This is a significant milestone, not only for Nissan and the Renault-Nissan Alliance, but also for the entire automotive industry,” said Carlos Ghosn, Nissan president and CEO.

“Consumers are clear. They want sustainable and affordable mobility – and the Alliance is leading the way with cars that deliver exactly that, with the reliability, excitement and performance that consumers demand.”

Powered by laminated compact lithium-ion batteries, these generate a power output of over 90 kW and at the same time the electric motor delivers 80kW/280 Nm.

Additionally the LEAF’s power train has no tail pipe and so does not emit any CO2 or other harmful greenhouse gases.

Charging the car’s battery will take only 30 minutes to reach full capacity with a quick charger while charging at home through a 200V outlet will take about eight hours which is aimed at overnight periods.

Nissan Automotive Car Parts

As the car market is increasingly seeing new additions of electrically powered motors, consumers may be worried about the potential up-keep of a new car like this and how much it costs to replace electrical parts.

At 247 Spares we stock the biggest range of spares for most cars, new or old including Nissan automotive parts, and they are all sold currently at discounted prices.

Toyota Prius car parts are set to increase in demand as the company celebrates two million sales of the vehicle worldwide since its launch in 1997.

Toyota Prius car parts are set to increase in demand as the company celebrates two million sales of the vehicle worldwide since its launch in 1997.

More than 70 countries have sold approximately 2,012,000 of the car up to September this year; in the UK the total sales were 38,600 in the same period.

The Prius boasts exceptional car parts and an eco-friendly system which Toyota calculated has saved around 11 million tonnes of CO2 emissions which would have been emitted through a similar sized petrol model.

Emitting just 89g/km of CO2 today, the Prius has the lowest figure achieved by any current production car with an internal combustion engine. It also has a combined cycle fuel consumption of 74.3mpg.

This hybrid power is central to Toyota’s new range as the company aims to become more environmentally friendly, with the target to sell at least one million hybrid vehicles annually.

Toyota has also been making the news with its white Auris. The Auris Hybrid is the first full hybrid for the hatchback market which delivers a unique combination of low CO2 emissions and top fuel economy.

A hybrid Synergy Drive 1.8 VVT-i Prius accelerates 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds, the maximum high speed the car goes up to is 112 mph, the max power is 134 bhp, has a length of 4460mm, a width of 1745mm and a height of 1490mm.

Toyota Car Parts

The Prius and the Auris Hybrid are unique cars offering clean fuel consumption and an eco-friendly engine which may make replacing these parts harder to find than for many other vehicles. However, quality Toyota car parts are readily available online. We can provide fully guaranteed second hand Toyota Spare Parts direct to you at discounted prices, we have been helping our customers save money on Toyota Parts since 1999.

Three out of five of the best-selling cars in September were part of the Vauxhall range, new figures reveal.

Three out of five of the best-selling cars in September were part of the Vauxhall range, new figures reveal.

As the car manufacturer’s popularity continues consumers are likely to be revamping their existing Vauxhall motors putting greater demand on finding good quality car parts.

The Astra range was the top seller of the best-selling car league and the Vauxhall Corsa sold a massive 14,249 vehicles in September alone, the Society of Car Manufacturers and Traders announced.

Vauxhall took a total market share of 12.6 percent of all car sales, and the Vauxhall Insignia remains the UK’s best-selling mid-size car overall, accounting for 18.8 percent of the sales in this sector.

“September is obviously a crucial month for car sales,” commented Duncan Aldred, Vauxhall’s Managing Director.

“The new Movano has also given our CV sales a real boost, helping us achieve one of our best retail market shares ever, totalling 17.77 percent.”

The new Astra Hatch is thought to have boosted the range even further as it took a market lead in the lower-medium sector, selling 12,465 cars in September. The Zafira also remained popular maintaining its top spot in the compact MPV sector and also in the retail and fleet listings.

Vauxhall Car Parts

Nearly 2.5 million cars, motorcycles, vans and lorries are in need of new brake light car parts and could be classified as unroadworthy due to broken or missing brake lights, research published this week has revealed.

Given the popularity with British motorists, many of the vehicles needing new car parts will undoubtedly be Vauxhall vehicles. If you are a proud owner of a Vauxhall car, new or second hand Vauxhall car parts are available for every range from 247 Spares. Whether you have an Astra Hatch, the new Movano, or the long term favourite Zafira, there are car parts available online to suit every type.

The German car manufacturer has launched an all-electric model of its popular hatch which features lithium-ion batteries stored in the boot.

A front-mounted electric motor producing 113bhp and 270Nm of torque enables the car, which weighs 205kg more than a standard diesel Golf, to reach a top speed of 86mph.

The company has already confirmed it will follow up its Toureg Hyrbid with further hybrid versions of the Golf and Passat, ready for release in 2013.

Volkswagen’s very first all-electric production vehicle will be the Up! Blue-e-motion, scheduled for release in 2013. The all-electric Golf models would initially be used by a small number of leasers before going on general sale further down the line.

Recently, the company revealed an updated version of its Phaeton model which will go on sale in August.

The advert said the Renault Fluence Z.E. would produce 90 per cent less emissions than a diesel model, but it used French electricity figures.

One reader complained to the ASA, noting that the French electricity generation mix emitted less C02 than that produced in the UK.

Despite the car manufacturer rejecting the claim, the ASA upheld the complaint and has now banned the advert from appearing in its current form in this country, though it can still appear in France.

"Because the figure was not representative of CO2 savings typically available in the UK, we concluded that the ad was likely to mislead," the ASA said.

Renault said the Fluence Z.E. is a statement of its intention to produce a ranger of zero-emission vehicles that meet needs of all types of customer.
