Honda has entered three of its cleanest cars to compete in the first RAC Future Car Challenge this month. Find out what Honda car parts make it so efficient.

The models set to partake in the London to Brighton event include the new Honda Jazz Hybrid along with the hydrogen powered FCX Clarity fuel cell car and their sporty hybrid CR-Z.

All the cars entered in the race will be measured on the energy they use on the route with the vehicle using the least over the 60 mile run to be crowned the winner.

The route is based on the same route taken by Honda Motor founder Soichiro Honda when he tackled the event in 1985.

All New Honda Jazz

The new Jazz model features a petrol-electric IMA system to lower emissions to 104 g/km and improve fuel economy to 64.2 mpg.

The Honda Jazz is made of hybrid technology with car parts aimed at increasing fuel efficiency while also retaining the practical characteristics non-hybrid versions offer.

Meanwhile the FCX Clarity is also supporting the Jazz on the race and features the ability to emit no harmful exhaust emissions with only water vapour coming out instead.

The car also offers a driving range of 270 miles before needing to be refuelled which takes 3-5 minutes.

The Honda CR-Z also encompasses all the benefits of advanced, low emission hybrid technology in a sporty hybrid coupe.

This car was launched earlier this year and is currently available to buy from £16,999, while the Honda Jazz is set to be available early next year.
