Toyota Prius Tops 2m Sales

Toyota Prius car parts are set to increase in demand as the company celebrates two million sales of the vehicle worldwide since its launch in 1997.

More than 70 countries have sold approximately 2,012,000 of the car up to September this year; in the UK the total sales were 38,600 in the same period.

The Prius boasts exceptional car parts and an eco-friendly system which Toyota calculated has saved around 11 million tonnes of CO2 emissions which would have been emitted through a similar sized petrol model.

Emitting just 89g/km of CO2 today, the Prius has the lowest figure achieved by any current production car with an internal combustion engine.  It also has a combined cycle fuel consumption of 74.3mpg.

This hybrid power is central to Toyota’s new range as the company aims to become more environmentally friendly, with the target to sell at least one million hybrid vehicles annually.

Toyota has also been making the news with its white Auris. The Auris Hybrid is the first full hybrid for the hatchback market which delivers a unique combination of low CO2 emissions and top fuel economy.

A hybrid Synergy Drive 1.8 VVT-i Prius accelerates 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds, the maximum high speed the car goes up to is 112 mph, the max power is 134 bhp, has a length of 4460mm, a width of 1745mm and a height of 1490mm.

“September is obviously a crucial month for car sales,” commented Duncan Aldred, Vauxhall’s Managing Director.

“The new Movano has also given our CV sales a real boost, helping us achieve one of our best retail market shares ever, totalling 17.77 percent.”

The new Astra Hatch is thought to have boosted the range even further as it took a market lead in the lower-medium sector, selling 12,465 cars in September. The Zafira also remained popular maintaining its top spot in the compact MPV sector and also in the retail and fleet listings.

Ensure you Have Safe Car Parts for Walk to School Month

Drivers are being urged to take greater care on their daily commute or school run as part of International Walk to School Month.

As well as using more concentration on the road motorists are advised to check their cars are up to scratch with working car parts to ensure their driving is not compromised.

As more children are expected to be walking to school in October the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAD) advices motorists to take extra care.

Their research suggests 43 percent of British children are driven to school each day and this is despite the majority of children living within a mile and half of their school.  With worsening weather conditions causing poorer visibility drivers are advised to leave the house early so they are not rushing to their destination.

“Children won’t always be paying attention and you should allow more space to compensate for this fact,” said Neil Greig, IAM policy and research director.

“It’s also good to leave the house earlier so you’re not in a hurry. Don’t let the fact you’re running late compromise your concentration and with that, the safety of other road users.”

A 12 year-old is three times more likely to be killed or maimed while walking to school than a 10 year-old, which shows the necessity of parents to properly educate their children about safe road crossings.

Warning Over Increase in Deer Accidents

Drivers are being advised to watch out for deer whilst driving after a new report shows that there have been over 2,000 deer-vehicle collisions in England alone since January 2009.

If you have been involved in a collision with a deer and need to replace car parts after an accident, order them online to save money.

The Highways Agency, with partners in The Deer Initiative is warning motorists of the hazards of autumn driving and the threat posed by deer. Their research suggests that there could be up to 74,000 deer-vehicle collisions in the UK every year, 80 percent of which in England.

“We really need drivers to be ‘DeerAware’ – to watch out for deer at the roadside, and to be alert particularly when driving at dawn or dusk,” commented Tony Sangwine, the Highways Agency’s senior environmental principal.

Drivers are being urged to slow down in deer hotspots and to watch out when they see deer warning signs at the roadside.

“There may be very little warning before one or several deer bolt across,” said Dr Jochen Langbein, the Deer Initiative’s UK Deer Vehicle Collisions Project project leader.

Motorists should use full-beams when they are able to, and to dip car lights when spotting a deer. If you stop when encountering a deer, a better option compared to swerving, remember to put on your hazard lights to warn traffic following behind you.

“Car accidents involving deer are more common as the number of deer increases,” added Adam Grogan, senior RSPCA scientist.

“Such accidents not only result in serious injuries or death for the deer, but they can also cause serious injuries – or worse – for the people involved as well.”

Order Car Parts Online

As the experts recommend driving with lights on at full beam, and to put hazard lights on when stopping, it is important to check before you drive your car that these parts are working properly.  If you need to replace broken lights and other car parts you can order them online from 24/7 Spares.

Increase in Insurance Right Offs on the Road

Car buyers on the search for second hand motors are being warned about an increase in the number of Category B insurance write-offs on the market. Doing up a car? Find the best price car parts for the job now.

An epidemic of vehicles which have been recommended by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) to be crushed are being dangerously repaired and sold to unassuming buyers, vehicle information expert HPI is warning.

Vehicles that are written off are put in to one of five categories depending on their condition and included in these are cars which are safe to return to the roads and those who should be scrapped.

Since the Government’s Scrappage scheme the UK new car market has seen a boost in sales, however this new problem of unscrupulous sellers highlights the need for consumers to take care when purchasing a second hand car.

“It’s easy to be taken in by shiny paintwork and a low price, but it could be hiding a multitude of faults that haven’t been fixed,” commented Nicola Johnson, HPI consumer services manager.

“Unscrupulous vendors will sell a write-off to make a quick profit but if the vehicle is not properly repaired any price is too high.”

While it is not illegal to repair and return written off for salvage cars, all apart from those in Category D are obliged to pass a Vehicle Identity Check (VIC) with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).

The HPI records show one in twenty five vehicles checked by them are classified as insurance write-offs and the company currently hold 650,000 write-offs on the HPI database.

Often obtaining quality car parts for a second hand motor can be hard due to the age of the vehicle, however 24/7 Spares has a wide range of parts in large supply.  These parts can be ordered over the phone or online and delivered straight to your front door.

Car Parts Needed for Missing Brake Lights

Brake lights are missing on one in 15 vehicles new research reveals, highlighting the need for motorists to check their cars or order new car parts.

Nearly 2.5 million cars, motorcycles, vans and lorries are in need of new brake light car parts and could be classified as unroadworthy due to broken or missing brake lights which increases the risk of an accidents for other road users, Carsite.co.uk showed.

The car retailer gathered the data during busy rush hour periods finding that commercial vehicles make up 20 percent of the overall figures, with six percent of all offenders spotted having no brake lights working at all making them subject to a £60 fine and penalty points on their license.

“The real problem is that people don’t realise they have a faulty brake light – it’s a major concern with potentially fatal consequences,” said John Guess, Carsite.co.uk spokesperson.

“There is no excuse for commercial vehicles not having all brake lights 100 percent functional.”

Around 26,000 accidents a year, including 224 fatalities, are caused by drivers misjudging other people’s speed, often a result of failing to spot another person slowing down rapidly.

Furthermore, 200 accidents are annually attributed directly to defective lights or indicators, and 364 accidents are caused by drivers not displaying lights at night or in poor visibility.

“With the days shortening and the clocks about to go back, drivers will be encountering more hazardous road conditions and motorists need to be seen by their fellow road users,” warned Ron Waldock, an independent RAC inspector.

Buy Brake Parts

Brake light switches, Brake Discs, Brake Pads, and Brake Cylinders are but a few of the complicated mechanical parts which are vital to safe braking and driving. 24/7 Spares holds all the necessary brake parts most cars will need and parts can be ordered online or over the phone and then dispatched straight to your home so time spent driving with no brake lights can be kept to an absolute minimum.

The Discovery 2 will use the latest Havoline lubricants and fuel additives to provide maximum fuel economy and engine protection on vehicle parts. The Land Rover will need to be fine tuned for the cold nights, extreme heat during the day and around the clock driving.

Car Parts Online: Tyre Safety Tips

October is tyre safety month: follow our top tips on how to keep safe on the road and look after your car tyres.

Tyres are essential Car Parts, playing an important role in braking, accelerating and steering when driving a car. If your car tyres are not up to the required standard, drivers can risk failing their MOT and are at risk of putting themselves and other road users in danger.

There over 145 million tyres on cars, vans and other vehicles across the UK, but 2.3 million vehicles failed MOT tests in 2009/10 because of the poor condition of their tyres, figures from the Department for Transport show.

Anyone caught driving with bad tyres faces a fine of anything up to £2,500 as well as the possibility of receving three points on their licence per tyre. For four tyres in a poor condition a driver could receive 12 points and lose their licence.

“Tyres are a vital part of your car. You cannot brake, steer or accelerate properly when they are worn or underinflated,” says Adrian Walsh, director of RoadSafe.

“Drivers must remember to check them regularly. It can save a life.”

Checking Car Tyres: The 20p Test

1. Check the tread of your tyres at least once a month. Also be sure to check your tyre pressure each month. Remember to check the pressure and condition of your spare tyre too.

2. If you do not have a calibrated tread depth gauge, a 20p coin makes a useful guide.

3. Insert a 20p coin into the tyre grooves at several places around the tyre and across its width. Tread should be a minimum of 1.6mm deep, any less and it is illegal.

4. Examine all tyres for uneven wear across the tyre – if the outer band of the 20p coin is visible, the tread depth may be illegal.

5. Check your tyre for any cuts and remove any stones or objects embedded in the tread.

Follow these tips for Car tyre maintenance you should benefit from increased driving performance and safety on the road. Save up to 80% on new and used car tyres now.

Volkswagen Car Parts Help Set New World Record

Sales of Volkswagen car parts could soon be more in demand after the Volkswagen PassatBlueMotion set a new Guinness World Record for travelling the longest distance ever on a single tank of fuel.

Imagine driving from London to Malaga without needing to stop for fuel, or crossing America from New York to Los Angeles and only stopping once for diesel along the way.

Well, a team of journalists from The Sunday Times newspaper have achieved just that; setting a new world record whilst driving a Volkswagen PassatBlueMotion from Maidstone in Kent to the South of France and back again, clocking up an impressive 1,526.63 miles in the process, without stopping for diesel once.

The standard production model Passat BlueMotion used for the record breaking attempt had its fuel tank drained and filled with 77.25 litres of standard forecourt diesel before leaving Maidstone. The cost of fuel per mile travelled for the trip was a remarkable 6.17p per mile.

The Passat, travelling at an average speed of 45mph throughout the journey, only ran out of diesel when it reached Calais, three days after setting off to complete the remarkable challenge.

Similar to other Volkswagen cars, such as the Polo and Golf BlueMotion models, the Passat is fitted with aerodynamic bodywork car parts, and has a lower ride height, Stop/Start, programmed battery charging, longer gearing and low rolling resistance tyres, which Volkswagen claim make it one of the most efficient cars on the market.
