The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has adapted regulations to cover eco-friendly cars.

A new version of the UNECE Regulation 100 will be produced, introducing universal safety standards for all hybrid and electric vehicles.

The UNECE issues a directive, which goes to all European Union member states, stating type approval requirements, which refers to the administrative procedure that authorities have to undertake after carrying out the relevant verifications and tests on a vehicle.

Amendments to the regulation encompass all electric vehicle types, including fully-electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The standards address safety issues as well as ensuring vehicle reliability.

One of the key requirements of the changes is that vehicles provide their users with adequate and effective protection against electric shocks.

Eco-friendly vehicles are attracting growing interest from both buyers and retailers across Europe.

These changes to the regulation will highlight any potential safety issues that may arise from the new technologies on the market.ADNFCR-2490-ID-19664837-ADNFCR
