After two years of relatively quiet traffic periods over Easter, Trafficmaster has predicted that this year will be exceptionally busy.

The harsh winter experienced in the UK will encourage motorists to take advantage of the first major holiday of the year, according to the expert in intelligent driving.

It has predicted that Maundy Thursday, April 1st, will be the main getaway period over the holidays.

There will be significant traffic on the roads on Good Friday and April 3rd too ,with nearly 20 million cars expected to be on the move over the Easter weekend.

Trafficmaster, which provides live traffic updates and real road speed data, has provided a list detailing traffic problems and where the most severe congestion will be.

The M25, M1 and M6, three of the most major motorways in the country, which all have road works in place, are expected to be the worst hit by heavy traffic.ADNFCR-2490-ID-19662037-ADNFCR
