Wives and husbands of classic car owners may lose out on Valentine’s Day, a new poll has suggested.
A survey by insurance company Footman James has revealed that more than 40 per cent of classic car enthusiasts prefer to spend time driving than with their partner.
Fewer than 30 per cent said that being with a loved one is more important than getting behind the wheel of their classic motor.
Most of these people also said that their car was more important than socialising in general.
Footman James’ managing director Paul Matthews said that this year’s Valentine’s survey had yielded some "fascinating results".
"Taking in a much larger sample than in previous years it is interesting to note that, for many classic vehicle enthusiasts, their classic remains their pride and joy and in many cases, at the expense of their partner, their hobby is still their number one priority," he commented.
DVLA Personalised Registrations said in 2008 that the two most in-demand number plates that year could be MY08 LUV and MR08 MRS.
