Car manufacturer Peugeot will put electronic stability programs (ESPs) in all its 308 SW and hatchback models, except the Urban, it has been revealed.

The ESP technology adds to the safety-focussed Peugeot car parts in the 308, which includes traction and stability control, which can be switched off for enhanced traction on difficult road surfaces and is reconnected automatically once the car goes above a speed of 31 mph

Peugeot Connect USB and Bluetooth, which is linked to an MP3 compatible radio and CD player, comes as standard on the 308 Sport hatchback and 308 SW Sport and SE models will also include speakers and an inbuilt microphone that allow telephone calls to be carried out safely.

ESP technology monitors the road through in-built sensors around a car to see whether the driver’s steering corresponds to the vehicles direction.

According to its developers, the facility could prevent up to 80 per cent of all skidding accidents.
