Car manufacturer Porsche is asking fans of the brand to rise to the challenge.

It will test enthusiasts by asking them to name the model of the engine by just listening to it.

The competition has been launched in celebration of the brand’s new Evolution 911 motor.

Anyone taking part in the sounds contest will be rewarded by being entered into a prize draw to win one of the new cars.

As well as the competition, there is an hour and a half programme running which is said to take those signing up through the history of the make’s iconic vehicle. For those interested in taking part, the cost is £275.

Porsche claims that the 911 has attracted a worldwide fan-base because of its "characteristic sound which is music to the ears of car fans".

As improvements have been made through the years, the sound of the vehicle’s engine has altered.

The brand claims that the new 911 is a "sport classic".
