A new guide has been released by the Freight Transport Association (FTA).

Entitled Guide to Managing Agency Drivers, the document seeks to give businesses advice on their temporarily-employed staff.

It includes key advice on subjects including risks that may present themselves to an organisation and how to manage them, alongside proper assignment completion and legal obligations tips.

The commercial vehicle industry has a tendency to dictate that it is often essential to use temporary drivers but such employees do not necessarily then have a familiarity with the individual company’s operations.

A publication such as the recent offering from the FTA attempts to mitigate the dangers involved by encouraging employers to put into place common sense and careful planning.

The book will be available at a discounted cost for those who are members of the FTA.

Members of the organisation are currently responsible for the operation of 200,000 goods vehicles in UK.
