It is the year for celebrating 75 years for one car manufacturer’s racers, who first hit the tracks in 1934.

Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows legends include names such as Manfred von Brauchitsch.

In 2010, Formula 1 will see the racing car carriers being used again to compete by a works team sporting the Mercedes star – the Mercedes Grand Prix.

Mercedes claims that today’s racing car carriers are not simply a means of transport but are also like "sophisticated lounges" compared to the conditions experienced by drivers of the 1930s and 1950s motors.

The Mercedes-Benz prototype department created the first fast racing car carrier for transporting especially urgent loads in response to the requests of racing manager Alfred Neubauer.

It carried out the first crash-test for safety 50 years ago as in the fifties it was believed that car crashes could not be made to be survivable and was the official car of London Fashion week for 2009.

For Mercedes spares, 247 Spares is worth a visit.
