One motoring body is facilitating Transaid donations in conjunction with its membership fee payments this year.

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) is providing its members with the option to make a donation to the organisation when paying their annual fees.

Pippa Attwood, FTA’s general manager for membership and marketing, said: "The donation which FTA members are making will hopefully make a big difference to those who are most in need in some of the world’s poorest countries."

The company representative added that the FTA is proud to support the work of Transaid and hopes the organisation is successful.

Transaid was established in order to make the lives better for people living in poor areas of Africa and right through the developing world.

It set about achieving this by improving the country’s transport network.

When paying their annual fees FTA members will be presented with the option of giving an additional £10 to the organisation.
