A government official has today (November 2nd) initiated a new labelling scheme for the car industry.
The idea behind the programme is to give motorists information about a vehicle regarding its fuel consumption, how environmentally-friendly it is and how much its running costs are.
Sadiq Khan MP, minister for transport, said: "Running costs and environmental performance are increasingly important to new and used car buyers. I am therefore delighted that the new car label is now joined by a similar used car label."
Launched this August, the scheme – developed by the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership and the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) – now has 1,000 dealers committed to it.
Mr Khan added that the scheme would mean buyers are well-informed to be able to go ahead and make a good purchase for themselves and the environment – and he urged more dealers to come forward to take part in the initiative.
The VCA has over 30 years experience in the motoring field.
