Drivers would do well to ensure their car parts do not present them with any additional problems on what is expected to be one of the worst days of the year for congestion.
Trafficmaster said October 23rd is "Black Friday" as it is likely to see lots of families hit the road for school half-term.
From mid-morning, tailbacks are expected to build and reach a peak in the afternoon, with some routes staying busy until the next day.
The company said high numbers of HGVs on the motorways, together with the school run and the beginning of holidays should make for a congested period.
"Some consolation for motorists is that commuter routes are likely to be much quieter than usual during the following week with no school runs, although the evening peak time will be mainly in darkness," explained data manager for Trafficmaster Graham Smith.
Ahead of Black Friday, drivers may want to make certain their car parts are in good shape.
This could include checking tyre pressures and tread, as well as topping up the engine with oil.
