Audi has revealed its new open-top R8 Spyder boasts a V10 engine with "awesome potential".

The unit produces 530 Nm of torque at 6,500 and maximum output of 525 PS at 8,000 rpm.

With this engine under the bonnet, the manual six-speed edition of the car can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds, before powering on to a top speed of 194 mph.

The vehicle is also equipped with all-LED headlamps, leather upholstery, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, DVD satnav, heated seats and seatbelt mounted microphones that allow occupants to talk on the phone even when on the motorway with the top down.

Earlier this week, the model made its UK debut at the inauguration ceremony for Audi’s new West London retail site.

Prices for the auto start at £109,580 and order books open next month.

The car was initially unveiled at last month’s Frankfurt International Motor Show.
