Motorists who have always been impressed with the quality of Porsche car parts may be keen to check out the latest addition to the manufacturer’s line-up.

The 911 Turbo is due to go on sale in the UK during November and features the first completely new engine for the range in 35 years.

Porsche explained the unit includes twin turbochargers boasting variable turbine geometry and direct fuel injection.

The carmaker described the engine as "the heart and highlight of the seventh-generation 911 Turbo".

It also pointed out the new unit is lighter, more efficient and offers improved performance.

Motoring enthusiasts keen to get a sneak preview of the vehicle will be able to witness its public debut at the Frankfurt auto show in September.

The coupe version of the model will cost from £101,823, while prices for the cabriolet start at £109,048.

Earlier this summer, the 3.8-litre Porsche unit that features in the 911 Carrera S model was named Best New Engine 2009.
