Drivers who are putting off buying a new auto in the face of the recession need to place greater emphasis on looking after the important car parts in their current vehicle, it has been suggested.
According to the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF), proper maintenance can help to ensure a minor problem does not develop into something more serious.
It explained this should also allow people to protect their pockets, as small issues are generally inexpensive to fix but if they are allowed to become major faults, drivers could end up facing a hefty bill.
Motorists who are not confident about checking their vehicle’s key car parts were advised to visit a professional.
Press officer Alex Wells stated workshops that are members of the RMIF will be able to offer drivers "advice on keeping their car on the road and not costing them too much".
Regular maintenance of key vehicle parts could also help to ensure an auto is well-equipped to get through the winter.
