Regular breaks ‘could help ensure a safe trip’

Vehicle owners who replace worn car parts at the earliest opportunity in order to ensure their autos are as safe as possible may find taking regular breaks during long journeys can also help to reduce their chances of being involved in an accident.

The Driving Standards Agency has claimed motorists jumping in the car and going on holiday this summer should stop for about 15 minutes in every two hours they are on the road.

In addition to this, it suggested people would do well to avoid getting behind the wheel between midnight and 06:00 as they may find it hard to stay alert between these times.

Drivers were also encouraged to turn off their mobile phones and wear comfortable clothing.

Trevor Wedge, DSA’s chief driving examiner, said following the organisation’s advice could help holidays "get off to the best possible start".

Checking important car parts before leaving could also assist in ensuring people arrive at their destinations safely.

Bosch car parts division ‘helping to make autos safer’

The latest Bosch development from its car parts division could help make autos safer, it has been suggested.

According to the group, its electronic stability program (ESP) premium brake control system stabilises vehicles in emergency situations by slowing down individual wheels.

The company pointed out the technology is the first of its type to come with a FlexRay interface.

It explained this allows the system to work in cooperation with the related sensors, the integrated chassis management device, the engine and transmission control units – and the adaptive cruise control (ACC).

The system is installed in the latest 7 series from BMW.

In addition to supplying the brake control system in the model, Bosch also provides the corresponding management units for the diesel engine and the ACC.

Klaus Meder from the company commented: "FlexRay paves the way for new possibilities of secure networking and provides a very solid basis for comprehensive and time-critical communication by current and future assistance and safety systems in the premium class."

Meanwhile, motorists looking for other BMW car parts may find they can secure some competitive deals online.

Motorists ’should allow tailgaters to pass’

People who replace worn car parts to ensure their autos are as safe as possible only to find themselves at risk of an accident because of a tailgater should try and diffuse the situation, it has been suggested.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists issued this advice in light of a study by the AA that found driving too close to the vehicle in front was considered the most annoying and dangerous habit on the road.

According to the group, individuals should not try and deter tailgaters by braking sharply.

It stated motorists should instead attempt to get themselves out of the situation.

A spokesperson for the organisation advised: "Find the earliest opportunity to change lanes in safety and allow the tailgater to get past you and become somebody else’s problem."

Meanwhile, safety-conscious drivers may find there are a range of cheap car spares available online that can help them ensure their autos are in peak condition.

Important car parts ‘must be checked regularly’

Auto owners who fail to get important car parts checked over when they ought to could be making a costly mistake, it has been claimed.

Mondial Assistance has warned people who try to save money by skipping scheduled servicing appointments may end up losing cash in the long run.

It explained putting off a garage appointment might allow a fault to develop that could have been prevented if the owner had visited a mechanic when their vehicle’s check-up was due.

The group also warned drivers who missed advised servicing dates may end up invalidating their warranties.

Spokeswoman Liz Grindell said motorists do not always read the small print on their policies.

"Car owners can be unaware of how disregarding the terms and conditions of their warranty can influence its benefits," she stated.

Meanwhile, drivers who carry out vehicle maintenance religiously may find they can source a range of cheap car parts for various makes and models online.

Comparison sites ‘may not offer best advice’

Drivers who ensure they replace worn car parts religiously in a bid to make their vehicle as safe as possible – but also want the peace of mind provided by a good motor insurance policy – may not be getting the best advice from price comparison sites, it has been suggested.

According to the British Insurance Brokers’ Association, aggregators tend to highlight the cheapest deals rather than the ones offering the most suitable protection.

Corporate affairs executive Graeme Trudgill said such online resources can encourage motorists to focus purely on getting the least expensive policy available, instead of thinking about what benefits they expect from their cover.

He urged customers to use comparison services with caution.

"Get an indication from the site but go to your insurance broker because they will be available to advise you on what is best for you and refine what you need," he stated.

Meanwhile, people keen to avoid a motor insurance claim may find replacing worn car parts can help ensure a vehicle is as safe as possible.

Suzuki reflects on its innovative car parts

As Suzuki celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, the company has been reflecting on some of the innovative car parts it has produced in the past and some it plans to develop in the future.

The Japanese manufacturer was established in 1909 and began auto production in 1955 – when it unveiled the Suzulight.

According to the group, the model was one of the first cars to come with rack and pinion steering, front-wheel drive and four-wheel independent suspension.

The company then launched its original Marine outboard motor in 1965.

General-purpose engines were introduced in 1980 and the firm’s first all-terrain vehicle was unveiled two years later.

In the future, the business intends to develop hydrogen fuel cell systems and it recently tested a model featuring the technology on roads in Japan.

Meanwhile, motorists who own one of the manufacturer’s models – and have been happy with its performance – may find they can hang onto their much-loved auto for longer by ensuring they replace worn parts with Suzuki car spares bought online.

Latest Audi A3 may impress buyers of car spares

Motorists who change car parts as soon as they become worn in order to improve the performance and green credentials of their auto may be impressed with the latest addition to Audi’s range.

The company has announced the launch of an A3 equipped with a new 1.6-litre engine.

It explained the unit offers improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

However, the group also pointed out the vehicle still provides great performance – as it is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 11.4 seconds and has a top speed of 121 mph.

Motorists who are tempted to buy the car will find it qualifies for annual road tax of £35 because it releases 109 g/km of CO2.

They may also discover they can travel further between trips to the pump as the auto is capable of nearly 69 mpg.

Prices for the model start at £17,485.

However, motorists with an older vehicle built by the manufacturer – who cannot afford to replace their set of wheels at the moment – may find they can keep their current auto running smoothly by replacing worn parts with Audi car spares bought online.
