The SLS AMG with electric drive can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in approximately four seconds.

Mercedes-Benz suggested the vehicle’s performance demonstrates the fact a green car can still boast high levels of power.

The electric technology employed by the auto means it offers zero emissions.

However, the company pointed out it was not simply concerned with minimising the vehicle’s impact on the environment.

Chief executive officer Volker Mornhinweg said: "For us, it is not just about responsibility, we attach just as much importance to excitement and classic AMG performance."
