People who replace worn car parts to ensure their auto is as green as possible may welcome the news Fiat’s environmentally-friendly efforts have been recognised.

The manufacturer’s eco:Drive technology has scooped an accolade at the Cannes Lions Awards, which honour creativity in marketing.

Entrants can receive gold, silver or bronze prizes, while outstanding competitors are handed a Grand Prix medal.

Fiat’s eco:Drive analyses a motorist’s driving style and offers tips on how users can improve fuel economy and their green credentials.

The product was one of 2,205 entries up for a Cannes Cyber Lions Award.

Of these, three received Grand Prix recognition and the manufacturer’s gadget was among them.

The triumphant company’s marketing director, Elena Bernardelli, said she was "delighted that this prestigious advertising festival should recognise eco:Drive as a new product that has established a relationship with customers, rather than simply a form of advertising".

Meanwhile, motorists who own one of the firm’s models may find they can minimise their impact on the environment by replacing worn parts with Fiat car spares bought online.
