Motorists who like to buy used vehicles and then work on them with car spares bought online may agree that drivers’ expectations of second-hand dealerships are relatively straightforward.
BCA’s 2009 report on the current state of the market has revealed people are looking for the right auto at a good price.
They are also keen to deal locally with professional, friendly and helpful staff, the publication claimed.
It added that any used car dealerships that are able to offer this type of service are probably in a good position to attract new customers and hang onto existing ones.
However, the report also revealed second-hand retailers saw revenue drop by £1.7 billion last year, with 360,000 fewer vehicles being sold compared to 2007.
Turnover fell to its lowest point since 2004 – to £24 billion.
Meanwhile, motorists who are keeping hold of autos for longer in a bid to cut costs in the face of the recession may find they can keep their current set of wheels running smoothly by replacing worn parts with car spares bought online.
