Motorists with a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 may be inspired to hang onto the car for as long as possible after hearing about the model’s latest success.

The auto has driven away with top honours in the 4×4 class at the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards.

Set up in 2004, the accolades are handed out to manufacturers seen to be doing the most in the fight against car crime.

The Land Cruiser V8’s achievement may see more owners searching for Toyota car spares online, so they can replace any worn parts and keep the auto running smoothly for many years to come.

Mike Briggs is a spokesman for Thatcham, the group that hands out the British Vehicle Security Awards.

He stated: "Car manufacturers can be proud of what has been achieved in recent years in terms of security."

Mr Briggs concluded by saying all the victorious 2009 entrants deserve to receive recognition for their accomplishments in this area.
