UK drivers ‘love their motors’

British motorists may be well advised to make sure they replace worn car parts in order to keep their vehicles running smoothly, if the results of a new report are anything to go by.

RoadTestReports.co.uk has analysed the first 3,000 auto reviews posted on its website and the findings suggest many drivers would be upset if anything were to go wrong with their set of wheels.

Of those people who completed an assessment of their current motor, some 70 per cent indicated they were happy with their car by awarding it a four or maximum five-star score.

In comparison, 12 per cent of participants gave their vehicles three-star marks and 18 per cent handed out one or two-star ratings.

Commenting on drivers’ attitudes to their autos, RoadTestReports.co.uk spokeswoman Faye Sunderland said: "To see so many reports of the pleasure they get out of their cars is really telling of the British penchant for their motors."

Meanwhile, people who are happy with their vehicles may find they can keep them running smoothly for many years to come by replacing worn parts with car spares bought online.

Scrappage scheme ‘could boost your bank balance’

Vehicle owners who try and save money by replacing worn car parts rather than buying new autos may be intrigued to hear there is the potential to make profit out of the scrappage scheme.

According to Glass’s, the fact used motors are in high demand and hard to come by at the moment means participants in the cash for bangers initiative can sell their set of wheels for more than they paid for it.

Managing director Adrian Rushmore commented: "The potential profit is greatest for those cars where the nearly-new value is currently high in relation to the list prices – notably small, affordable cars with low running costs."

The company explained people who purchase a Ford Fiesta, Citroen C1 or Fiat 500 through the programme could make up to £1,100 if they sell to a private buyer.

However, drivers whose vehicles are not old enough to be scrapped under the government initiative may find they can keep their current autos running smoothly for many years to come by ensuring they replace worn car parts.

New method of buying used cars unveiled

Drivers who tend to buy used vehicles and then keep them running for as long as possible by ensuring they always replace worn car parts may want to check out a new second-hand auto-purchasing scheme.

Carsite.co.uk has revealed its customers can now reserve models that are coming to the end of fleet and leasing deals before they are officially put on the market.

The Early Bird programme allows people to browse thousands of vehicles and if they spot a motor they want, they then pay £75 and the auto cannot then be bought by anyone else.

At this point, Carsite.co.uk sorts out an HPI check and independent bodywork and mechanical examination, as well as issuing the potential purchaser with 21 detailed photographs of the model they are interested in.

If the buyer changes their mind about the car, they receive a refund of the £75 reservation fee.

Meanwhile, people who have recently bought a second-hand vehicle may find they can buy a wide range of car spares online in order to keep the auto in peak condition.

Ford to develop battery electric vehicles

People who always make sure their auto’s car parts are working as efficiently as possible in a bid to minimise their impact on the environment may welcome the news Ford is developing a range of battery-powered vehicles.

The manufacturer is working in partnership with Strathclyde University and Scottish and Southern Energy to set up an initiative in Hillingdon, Middlesex, to test out the models.

Joe Greenwell, chairman of the company’s British division, commented: "Battery electric vehicles represent an important step in Ford’s pursuit of delivering more efficient and sustainable mobility solutions."

The project has been funded in part by the government’s Technology Strategy Board – established to promote industry programmes that cut CO2 and benefit the UK’s transport network.

It is hoped the Ford initiative will be launched next year.

Meanwhile, people may find they can reduce their carbon footprint without buying an electric model by replacing worn car parts so their current auto is running at its most efficient.

Going green ’should not prove costly’

Drivers who try and do their bit for the planet by replacing worn car parts to ensure their vehicle is running as efficiently as possible may welcome news motor insurance is not necessarily more expensive for eco-friendly models.

Research by moneysupermarket.com revealed people who buy electric or hybrid autos will pay roughly the same for cover as people opting for petrol-powered rides.

The price comparison website also pointed out people with environmentally-friendly models were likely to make savings elsewhere.

It explained hybrid and electric cars tend to qualify for cheaper road tax, with some being completely exempt from vehicle excise duty.

This comes after a poll by the online resource found 39 per cent of British drivers would buy this type of green auto if they needed to replace their current model.

Spokesman Steven Sweeney stated: "It is encouraging to see so many motorists are conscious of their carbon footprint and are looking for ways to make a difference."

Meanwhile, drivers who cannot afford to trade in their current vehicle may find they can improve their green credentials by replacing worn car parts to ensure their auto has minimal impact on the planet.

Old cars ’should not be ditched’

Motorists who try and keep their vehicles on the road for as long as possible by looking after them properly and replacing worn car parts may agree with the comments of one auto care company.

Armor All has claimed for many drivers, taking part in the scrappage scheme is costly and unnecessary.

It explained, even with a £2,000 financial incentive, the majority of Brits cannot afford to purchase a brand new motor.

The group added this should not prove to be a problem, as simply showing ageing autos a bit of tender loving care should keep them on the road for many years to come.

"In contrast to the UK government’s latest Darling idea, Armor All – pioneers in the art of car care – are urging owners of older cars not to throw in the can," it stated.

Meanwhile, motorists who know how to look after vehicles properly may find they can buy cheap car spares online.

Daihatsu ‘could save motorists cash’

Cash-strapped drivers may find buying a Daihatsu could help them significantly reduce their running costs, it has been suggested.

The manufacturer claimed its models are ideal to help Brits through the economic downturn.

It stated motorists should be able to make savings on road tax by purchasing one of its cars as they offer "some of the lowest emissions in their classes".

Drivers may also find they can cut the amount they spend at the pump, as the vehicles boast "superbly efficient engines", the company pointed out.

From July 6th, motorists in Inverness will get the opportunity to take a closer look at the firm’s Terios model.

Daihatsu explained it will be displaying the 4×4 at Eastgate Shopping Centre for a week.

Meanwhile, people who cannot afford to trade in their current motor may find there are other ways to reduce running costs.

By replacing worn car parts, drivers may be able to improve efficiency, thereby saving money on fuel.

Seat offer ‘could help drivers protect key car part’

Seat owners who do not want to risk damaging one of their vehicle’s most important car parts may want to make their way down to a local dealership.

The manufacturer has urged motorists to take advantage of the free auto checks it offers all of its customers to keep engines in peak condition.

Vehicle care company Comma recently claimed its research showed Seat drivers were the least conscientious when it came to topping up their oil.

The carmaker disputed this, as the findings were based on a relatively small sample.

However, it added basic vehicle maintenance is crucial and it made sense for motorists to pop into their nearest Seat outlet for a few minutes so expert technicians could take a look under the bonnet.

Nigel Griggs, head of aftersales, commented: "Any driver would obviously be well advised to ensure his car is in tip-top condition – and Seat’s free check is a simple, easy way to get that peace of mind."

There is no need for customers to book in order to take advantage of the offer.

Drivers may also find replacing worn parts with Seat car spares bought online can also help to keep vehicles running smoothly.
