The German JD Power Vehicle Owners Satisfaction Study saw the manufacturer’s Qashqai clinch third place overall.

Previously the model took 11th position in the British version of the poll.

Nissan claimed the vehicle "comfortably bettered" both C-segment and SUV competitors.

Trevor Mann, senior vice-president of manufacturing, purchasing and supply chain management for the European division of the group, commented: "Having the superb quality and owner satisfaction offered by the Qashqai recognised in such a significant export market is fantastic news."

In the German poll, the vehicle was the only SUV to drive away with an excellent rating.
