People who always make sure their auto’s car parts are working as efficiently as possible in a bid to minimise their impact on the environment may welcome the news Ford is developing a range of battery-powered vehicles.
The manufacturer is working in partnership with Strathclyde University and Scottish and Southern Energy to set up an initiative in Hillingdon, Middlesex, to test out the models.
Joe Greenwell, chairman of the company’s British division, commented: "Battery electric vehicles represent an important step in Ford’s pursuit of delivering more efficient and sustainable mobility solutions."
The project has been funded in part by the government’s Technology Strategy Board – established to promote industry programmes that cut CO2 and benefit the UK’s transport network.
It is hoped the Ford initiative will be launched next year.
Meanwhile, people may find they can reduce their carbon footprint without buying an electric model by replacing worn car parts so their current auto is running at its most efficient.
