Fiat has taken an environmental accolade at the What Car? Green Awards.
The manufacturer’s 500 Start&Stop city model has driven away with an honour for being one of most economical vehicles on the UK market.
Managing director Andrew Humberstone said: "In these tough economic times, motorists are looking for environmentally-friendly cars that can provide fantastically low running costs."
The firm pointed out the model benefits from the expertise of car parts specialist Bosch, as well as Fiat Powertrain Techologies.
In terms of its green credentials, the vehicle offers CO2 emissions of 113 g/km.
Commenting on the auto, What Car? magazine stated: "Not many cars as chic as the 500 are so easy on the environment."
The Start&Stop feature means the engine cuts out automatically when the vehicle comes to a halt.
Prices for the model start at £9,700.
Motorists who cannot afford a new auto but are keen to reduce their carbon footprint may find replacing worn car parts helps to ensure their vehicle is running as efficiently as possible.
