Updated Mazda MX-5 arrives in showrooms

Motorists who replace car parts as soon as they become worn in order to make sure their vehicles are as environmentally-friendly as possible may be impressed by changes to the Mazda MX-5.

Both the 2009 soft-top and roadster coupe versions of the model are now in showrooms up and down the country – and the manufacturer claimed they are the cleanest editions of the auto ever.

The version equipped with the MZR 1.8i engine boasts CO2 emissions of 167 g/km – down from 174 g/km.

In addition to this, its fuel economy has been improved from 38.7 mpg to 40.4 mpg.

The company predicted the new model would be a hit with motorists.

Jeremy Thomson, the group’s managing director, said: "The 2009 MX-5 effectively builds on the qualities that have made the Mazda’s two-seater roadster the best-selling sportscar in the world."

Meanwhile, drivers who are not ready to trade in their current vehicle from the manufacturer may find they can keep it running smoothly for years to come by replacing worn parts with Mazda car spares bought online.

Nissan Qashqai ‘boasts happy drivers across Europe’

A significant number of drivers may benefit from searching for Nissan car spares online so they can keep a much-loved motor running smoothly, if the results of a new survey are anything to go by.

The German JD Power Vehicle Owners Satisfaction Study saw the manufacturer’s Qashqai clinch third place overall.

Previously the model took 11th position in the British version of the poll.

Nissan claimed the vehicle "comfortably bettered" both C-segment and SUV competitors.

Trevor Mann, senior vice-president of manufacturing, purchasing and supply chain management for the European division of the group, commented: "Having the superb quality and owner satisfaction offered by the Qashqai recognised in such a significant export market is fantastic news."

In the German poll, the vehicle was the only SUV to drive away with an excellent rating.

Meanwhile, motorists who already own a Qashqai and are keen to keep it in peak condition for as long as possible may find replacing worn parts with Nissan car spares bought online can help.

Cars ’should be protected from the sun’

Vehicle owners who make the effort to keep their motors in peak condition by replacing worn car parts may also do well to protect their autos from the sun.

Autoglym has pointed out intense heat and high levels of UV rays can cause more damage than freezing temperatures.

It claimed, with experts predicting a scorcher of a summer, it is vital motorists take preventative action.

The company suggested drivers use a spray-on insect remover so they do not damage paintwork by rubbing too vigorously.

It also advised people to wash vehicles in the shade, as this prevents cleaning products getting dried on and corroding the bodywork.

Motorists were also urged to use protective lotions on their autos.

Hemant Patel, Autoglym’s technical director, explained: "We all know the importance of using sun cream to care for our skin and … a good coating of wax or polish can add a vital protective layer to a car’s paintwork."

Meanwhile, EurotaxGlass’s previously reported that private sellers could get up to £600 more for a used vehicle by giving it a thorough clean.

Campaign ‘convinces motorists to look after vital car part’

A recent campaign has convinced some motorists of how vital it is to look after one of their vehicle’s most important car parts, it has been suggested.

Comma – the auto care company – declared National Oil Check Week a success.

It revealed some 7,200 drivers had taken the firm up on its offer of free dipstick tests.

The group toured the country, holding roadshows where they discussed the importance of basic vehicle maintenance.

Sales and marketing director Mike Bewsey said: "Most people we spoke to were surprised to discover that their cars needed such regular attention and I’m certain we saved at least a few people having to shell out for a new engine."

According to figures from Comma, the average cost of fixing problems caused by a lack of oil is £1,413.

Meanwhile, motorists looking to replace other parts in order to keep their auto running smoothly may find they can buy a range of cheap car spares online.

Britain ‘looking forward to green future’

Motorists who always replace worn car parts to ensure their auto is as green as possible may be impressed by the predictions of one company.

Elektromotive has suggested the UK will boast the world’s most extensive system of battery-powered vehicle recharging stations in the future.

It explained this was because the government is investing some £25 million into environmentally-friendly car trials.

Calvey Taylor Haw, the group’s managing director, said: "This is a hugely significant project that will place the UK at the forefront of global efforts to accelerate widespread uptake of electric vehicles."

The government programme will involve trials of about 340 eco-friendly autos in a variety of locations – from Glasgow to London.

By 2010, it is thought there will be in excess of 500 charging stations and Elektromotive claimed it would be playing a key part in their development.

Meanwhile, motorists who are not planning to invest in an electric vehicle in the near future may find they are still able to do their bit for the planet by replacing worn car parts, thereby making sure their auto is running as efficiently as possible.

Drivers ‘need to take responsibility for their own safety’

Auto owners who regularly check important car parts in order to ensure their vehicle is as safe as possible may back calls for drivers to adopt more responsible attitudes behind the wheel.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists issued this statement in light of Department for Transport figures that showed the number of fatalities and casualties on Britain’s roads is falling.

It welcomed the news and praised government efforts, but stated the authorities cannot be expected to work alone.

Neil Greig, director of policy and research, said: "The challenge for the government is to provide a safe … road network and for motorists to take more responsibility for their safety by treating driving as a skill for life."

Currently, the UK is sixth in terms of preventing traffic accident casualties.

Meanwhile, motorists looking for cheap car spares so they can keep their auto in tip-top condition may find they can buy good value parts for a wide variety of models online.

Toyota Prius ‘built in eco-friendly factory’

Vehicle owners who try to improve their green credentials by replacing worn car parts to ensure their auto is running as efficiently as possible may be impressed by the environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes behind the Toyota Prius.

According to the company, the factory where the model is produced boasts "pioneering innovations" in waste management, recycling and energy saving.

It pointed out the facility in Tsutsumi, Japan, has held green standard ISO14001 status since 1996.

The plant has been kitted out with energy-saving lighting and a system that cuts electricity use when the factory is not operational.

In addition to this, the facility meets half of its electricity requirements through solar power.

The new Prius is due to arrive in UK showrooms from August 1st and will be priced from £18,370.

Meanwhile, people who cannot afford to update the vehicle they previously bought from the manufacturer may find they can keep it in peak condition for longer by replacing worn parts with car spares bought online.

Brits ‘hanging onto their motors longer’

There may be a rise in the number of motorists looking to buy cheap car spares online, if the comments of one company are anything to go by.

According to Carcraft, Brits are hanging onto vehicles for longer as a result of the economic downturn.

It stated drivers are more likely to try and keep their current autos on the road for extended periods of time by repairing any problems that arise, rather than trading them in for new models.

The firm stated garages needed to ensure they are offering what these kind of motorists are looking for.

A spokesman for the group said: "We’ve found that customers almost expect a dealership standard of service.

"This extends not only to the quality of work carried out, but also the levels of customer care they experience."

Meanwhile, cash-strapped drivers may be able to cut costs further by buying their own car spares online and then taking them to a professional to have them fitted.
